Freycinet Challenge 2024

The Freycinet Challenge is a multi-sport event, running over two days through the stunning Freycinet Peninsula at Coles Bay, which is on the East Coast of Tasmania. If you’re a paddler, a road cyclist, a runner or a mountain biker, this is a challenge that will push your limits in one of the most beautiful places in Australia.

The 23rd edition of the Freycinet Challenge will be held at Coles Bay in Tasmania, on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 October 2024

Dog’s Breakfast – Mental Health Week

Dog's Breakfast is the first event to kick start Mental Health Week. Come along to our park Orford, and bring your dog to enjoy some time with others in the community. There is no need to stay the whole time and you can just drop in whenever best suits you. Please make sure all dogs are on a leash. 

When: Sunday, October 6th from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

Where: Our Park Orford (Walpole Street)

There will be hot drinks and some biscuits for the humans and a bandana for the dogs.

Free Creative Workshops to Build Shearwater-inspired Lanterns

Swansea Courthouse Arts group invite you to join in for 6 days of free workshops at the Courthouse during the school holidays. The dates are from Monday 30th Sept. to Wednesday 2nd Oct. and from Monday 7th Of Oct. to Wednesday 9th Oct. 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM each day.

All ages are welcome and children aged 12 or under must be accompanied by an adult helper. As the number of participants is limited, please call 0458002090 by Friday 27 Sept. to reserve your place.

The lanterns will be fun to build and to parade in Swansea at full moon on Saturday 19th October when we can share a moment to contemplate Swansea's Short-tailed Shearwaters, their tenacity and our respect for their place in our town.

A Cup of Art – Mental Health Week

Come along and join Laura from Baptcare as she is offering a free craft session on Monday the 7th of October. You can also find out more about what Baptcare and their 'Horizons' program offers to the community. The session is from 1:00pm to 3:00pm in the Spring Bay Community Health Centre. Orford Community Hall

Maria Voices is a community choir that meets for song, music, fun and good company.

When: Every Monday 3:30pm - 5pm

Where: The Orford Community Hall (33 Charles Street, Orford)

We have a sing along each Monday fortnight and a performance choir on the alternate Monday. You may wish to be part of both groups or just one.
