A cancer diagnosis has a huge impact, both physically and emotionally. Some common emotional reactions include anxiety, fear, grief and anger. This workshop focuses on looking after yourself during your own cancer diagnosis or that of a loved one.
It provides some background information about how human beings respond to stress, and some practical tips for managing distress and reducing the impact on your mental health.
This workshop is co-hosted by Spring Bay Rotary Club and Cancer Council Tasmania and is FREE to attend.

The Yarn Time Group meet at the Spring Bay Community & Health Centre
Every Tuesday from 10am - 12pm.
The aim of the group is to bring woman together for a couple of hours of fun, laughter and some craft work if you wish.
All community members are welcome. No need to let us know, just drop in to see if you would like to join in.

RediCommunities Swansea & Dolphin Sands
Australian Red Cross are hosting a RediCommunites workshop on Wednesday 21 June 10am - 3pm at Swansea Town Hall.
The workshop will bring together community members, community groups, organisations and other leaders to identify community strengths, resilience gaps and create a local resilience action plan. The session will be facilitated by our National Senior Project Officer in Resilience.
Lunch and refershments will be provided.

A family friendly celebration of light, Bicheno Beams returns this winter from 1st - 22nd July. Two entirely unique and awe-inspiring laser light shows with adjoining soundtrack will be presented on alternate nights.

This year’s NAIDOC Week theme is For Our Elders. NAIDOC Week is a time for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to celebrate their care of country, and their history of survival as a nation. This week is an opportunity for all Tasmanians to participate and celebrate with their local Aboriginal community.
At this year’s NAIDOC Week Film Showcase, our second year running, we are going completely regional hitting Bicheno, Scottsdale, Smithton and New Norfolk, in that order!
We are taking the film Ablaze on the road. The film follows Yorta Yorta man, opera singer and Senior Lecturer in Indigenous Arts and Culture at the Victorian College of the Arts Tiriki Onus on a journey to discover if his grandfather Bill Onus was the first Aboriginal film maker. Bill was an entrepreneur, performer and activist, being particularly active during the 1967 Referendum.

You will learn what a dementia-friendly community is and how it benefits the whole community. You will explore practical examples and identify a process for 'getting started' as an individual or as a communit , to enable your community to be dementia-friendly.
