Glamorgan Spring Bay Council have a part-time (4 days/week) position available to assist the Works & Infrastructure Directorate to deliver its objectives with respect to service delivery.

This position will suit someone with high level administration skill with capacity to maximise value from legacy and contemporary IT solutions.

A background in construction is desirable but not essential.

Glamorgan Spring Bay Council have an opportunity for a People Services Partner. A combination of remote and onsite working is being offered across 60-80% full-time hours with the flexibility to attend sites for any urgent matters.

The role will be relied upon to support Council in ensuring legally compliant frameworks for leading and managing people and will case manage various people related matters.  The position reports directly to the General Manager.

Applicants must have a degree qualification and experience in human resources and will have demonstrated experience or qualifications in Work Health and Safety, including workers compensation. Local government knowledge would be ideal, however a demonstrated capacity to build networks and relevant industry knowledge will be sufficient.

Applicants will be experienced in developing policy and procedures to inform Council operations, together with being comfortable engaging with all levels of the workforce to identify areas for improvement and driving change to deliver on this. Applicants will have experience in dealing with the Fair Work Commission, Workers Compensation Tribunal and unions.

The human resource function will encompass recruitment, industrial advice and negotiations, performance management, learning and development together with workforce planning and structure.  The role is also the primary driver of all employment documentation, auditing human resource compliance and other individual people and project work.

The safety function will involve the improvement of the safety management system in conjunction with support of the leadership team, to provide a healthy and safe work environment. The position will coordinate safety reporting and the administration of work-related injuries including insurance liaison, tribunal disputation and rehabilitation. The candidate will require good documentation and reporting skills to inform the leadership team.

Glamorgan Spring Bay Council has up to a full-time position vacant for a qualified and experienced Planner.  There is a level of flexibility in how the role can be delivered in terms of hours and days of work.

The role has a strong focus on assessing development applications in accordance with Council’s planning scheme and relevant legislation.  The position is also the first contact for people considering development in the municipality and consequently has a considerable impact in Council’s customer service.

The successful applicant will be suitably qualified and will ideally have experience working in, for or with local government.  Individuals interested in this position will be adept communicators, natural negotiators and enjoy overcoming challenges.  Applicants who are analytical by nature with evidence of a solution oriented mid set are best suited to this role.

Council is seeking to rebuild its expression of interest register for people that might be interested in casual roles in the Works area.  This can include working in:

  • Roads, path, bridge construction and maintenance
  • Parks, gardens construction and maintenance
  • Facilities maintenance
  • Waste management
