Payment of Rates
What if my payment is late?
Where any rates payable to Council are not paid on or before the due date, interest and penalty charges will be applied:
- Interest accrues on a daily basis at a rate of 8.13% per annum immediately on the overdue balance
What if I am experiencing difficulties in paying rates?
If you are experiencing financial hardship and you are having difficulty paying your rates instalment by the due date, there are options available.
Payment Arrangements
Contact Council on 03 6256 4782 to discuss alternative payment arrangement options. Interest and penalty on outstanding rates payment will still apply under payment arrangements

Legal Action
If an overdue amount remains unpaid after 14 days Council will take legal action for total rates payable if there is no approved payment arrangement in place. Any costs incurred due to legal action are recoverable from the ratepayer.
Payment Options
Direct Debit
You can pay your rates by direct debit from your bank account. Direct debit arrangements can be weekly, fortnightly, monthly, by instalments or annually.
Complete a Direct Debit Request form and return to Council:

- In Person: Visit Council’s Office at 9 Melbourne Street, Triabunna, Tasmania 7190
Pay over the phone
Pay your rates 24hours/7days by Visa or Mastercard.
Call 1300 729 859 and follow the prompts.
You will need the following details:
- Billpay Code: 8215
- Your Customer Reference Number, which can be found in the bottom left hand corner of your rates notice.
- The Payment amount
BPAY Payments
If your bank or financial institution offer online BPAY services, you can make a rates payment via internet, mobile or phone banking.
You will need the following details:
- Biller Code: 8215
- Your Customer Reference Number: Find the BPAY logo, biller code and reference number at the front of your rates notice in the bottom left hand corner
- The payment amount
Internet Payments
Pay your rates directly on-line with your credit card 24hours/7days a week via our Service Tasmania link. Your friendly internet session is encrypted for security and you will be automatically given a receipt number as proof of your transaction.
POST Billpay – Pay in person at Australia Post
Rates payments can be made at any Australia Post Office nationwide.
You will need to have your rates notice with you to make a payment.
Pay by Mail
Mail a cheque or money order to: Glamorgan Spring Bay Council, PO Box 6, Triabunna, Tasmania 7172

Pay in person at Council’s Offices
Rate payments can be made by visiting Council’s office at 9 Melbourne St, Triabunna. Council’s office is open between 9.00am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).
