Festival of Voices 2022

Enjoy an evening of East Coast hospitality and incredible music at our new venue.
The new Saw Tooth Shed at Spring Bay Mill will play host to our annual night of great music, great food and great vibes.
Hosted by Mamma Rosa, the line-up will feature:
- Rock legend Mick Thomas (Weddings Parties Anything) with Brooke Taylor
- BABA BRUJA, Tasmania’s very own 12 piece, all original, astral travelling, Afrobeat orchestra
- The East Coast’s own Maria Voices
This is an outdoor event so dress appropriately. There will be food vans, fire pots, and plenty of room for dancing. Seating is provided and there will be some undercover shelter areas.
There is plenty of parking and all amenities on site.
Our 2022 Line Up
Mick Thomas
Raconteur, troubadour, balladeer and poet, Mick Thomas is best known as chief songwriter of pub-rock icons Weddings, Parties, Anything. His current band The Roving Commission features old “Weddoes” bandmate Squeezebox Wally on Piano Accordion and a rotating schedule of talented performers to keep the party alive with Mick’s unique mix of folk, roots and country.
Mick’s ever-evolving talents as a writer and performer defines a career as intriguing as it is enduring.
Brooke Taylor
Brooke Taylor is a Melbourne-based singer, songwriter and guitarist. Hermusic style encompasses folk, rock and country elements. Brooke writes about the human condition, drawing listeners in with her storytelling and raw emotion. Her songs are built with strong rhythm guitar, memorable melodies, honey-toned vocals and soulful lyrics. Wowing crowds with her magnetic energy at gigs and music festivals across the country, including St Kilda Music Festival, Bruthen Blues Festival and The Taste of Tassie.
Brooke Taylor is an exciting artist to watch out for, with her Debut Album ‘It’s The Little Things’ launching at #2 on the Australian Independent Album Charts July 2020.
Baba Bruja
Baba Bruja are an all original 12-piece Afrobeat Dance Orchestra based in nipaluna/ Hobart. The ensemble consists of some of luturuwita/ Tasmania’s best loved jazz and funk musicians and features the original compositions of non-binary bandleader and trombonist Stevie McEntee.
The band’s sound is big, raucous, and dynamic; when they get cooking audiences can’t help but move their bodies! Baba Bruja has become known for infectious melodies, rhythmic drive and extended dynamic solos that really take the band and listeners on a sonic journey. Their music, while firmly rooted in the musical traditions of Afrobeat, incorporates elements from many different musical cultures from around the world.
Formed in 2017, the band have performed across lutruwita/ Tasmania at festivals including Dark Mofo, Falls Festival, A Festival Called Panama, Taste of Tasmania, Party in the Paddock, MONA FOMA and Clarence Jazz Festival and can’t wait to rock out for this very special Festival of Voices set!
