We are seeking an experienced Principal Planner to join our Planning & Development team.

This is an opportunity to take on a senior planning role with plenty of variety, working across statutory land use planning, complex development applications and significant land development and commercial projects, while providing professional advice to Council, developers, and the community. The role also provides supervision, mentoring and support to our Planner and contributes to improving assessment processes and the customer experience.

The position offers:

• Salary of $101,000–$120,000 FTE, depending on skills and experience
• 18.5% superannuation – 6.5% above the Superannuation Guarantee, with employees able to choose to receive the additional 6.5% as ordinary time earnings
• Council vehicle with full private use, valued at approximately $15,000 per year
• Relocation assistance

• Part-time hours and flexible working arrangements, which may be negotiated for the right candidate.

About you

To be considered for the role, you’ll need a tertiary qualification in town planning, urban development or a similar field, along with a current driver’s licence. Five or more years’ experience in a similar role is highly desirable.

We’re looking for someone with strong statutory planning knowledge who can confidently assess and report on planning and development applications, interpret planning schemes and legislation, and manage complex matters within statutory timeframes.

You’ll also bring strong communication and relationship-building skills, sound judgement and problem-solving ability, a commitment to good customer service, and the ability to work independently while supporting and mentoring others within the team.
